“Conflict is Frequent in Our Lives†(CPP, 2008: Folger, Poole, & Strutmant, 2013; Wilmot & Hocker, 2011). “Conflict is an expressed struggle between at least two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals†(Wilmot & Hocker, 2011 p.11). Sebagaimana pada edisi pertama, tujuan umum dari buku ini tidak mengalami perubahan yaitu: untuk menyusun basis pengetahuan dalam satu sumber pada bidang konflik komunikasi; untuk mengidentifikasi teori, ide, dan praktik terbaik dalam konflik komunikasi; dan untuk menyediakan peluang bagi para praktisi dan akademisi untuk menghubungkan kerangka teoritis dengan aplikasinya.
